Third Year

 Rail Project

This project was issued to us at the beginning of third year and was based on rail travel, looking specifically at the interior of a train carriage.
I was very interested in using knit as a basis for my designs and decided to base my theme on a woodland environment. Using the interior of a train carriage as the setting i was very keen to explore knit and embroidery as a way to create a surreal environment, creating an atmosphere which would transport you into an enchanted woodland for the duration of the journey.

Third Year

SDC Competition

The SDC project was set as a competition which focused heavily on the creative use of colour. I chose to base my theme around the
childrenswear trend 'animalistic', taking inspiration from nature and animals. As well as looking at colour, we were instructed to think about and
incorporate an element of social responsibility. I decided to look at perfection and the idea that this portrays instantly recognisable beauty.
Farmyard animals became the perfect source of inspiration for this.
Upon first glance they are seen as very mundane, working class creatures, but posses beauty through a range of elements, colour, texture and pattern.
The basis of the project looked particularly at chickens and the highland cow for shape, colour and texture which could then be translated and used within a childrenswear context.
